What
is multi-level marketing or MLM?
Multi-level marketing is known as MLM or sometimes Network
Marketing and is a legitimate, ethical way for large
companies to sell and distribute products.
 |
Multi-level
marketing is used by large recognised, multi-national
companies like Avon Cosmetics to promote and distribute
products around the world.
Kleeneze is another great example of MLM, both

The reason it's called multi-level marketing is because
those people involved in the business make money on
their personal sales but also on the sales of others
that they introduce into the business. The people that
are introduced into the business are added to the level
below the introducer in the organisational structure.
When money is made it is made on 'multiple levels'.
Everyone
benefits
The multi-level marketing structure offers benefits
to all those involved.
The company
MLM provides companies the option of promotion
and distribution of their product nation-wide or world-wide
through representatives, without huge overheads.
The representative
The representatives are offered the chance to earn money
by promoting tried and tested products from an established
company by working from home.
The customer
The cost savings of supplying the goods or
services direct through a representative rather than
traditional retail channels are considerable. Typically,
the customer enjoys low cost and good value for money
since these cost savings are passed on.

What's
the catch?
As an employee of a company with a traditional job you
are paid a set wage, have set duties and need to fulfll
the duties set out in your job description to keep your
job. With multi-level marketing you are essentially
your own boss and are paid entirely on your performance
and the performance of those you introduce into the
business.
Many people believe that multi-level marketing has
the benefits of being self employed without many of
the complexities involved in starting your own business
from scratch - there's no need to develop or test your
own products, you can benefit from the companies brand
and reputation and follow simple methods and training
to help you to succeed.
Illegal
pyramid schemes
Some illegal pyramid schemes claim to be legitimate
MLM organisations but are illegal because they offer
no achievable way to make money through the sale of
products or services. The only way participants make
money is by recruiting others, learn more about pyramid
schemes.
